INTERVISTA
Why read a good book helps the imagination to grow and develop, then it does not remain anchored to those perceptions that have natural children, but to make it fly higher. Accostatami these books require a certain level, I realized that I would somehow like to write. So enamored of this conviction I started to write a book too, as a child, a yellow to be exact. The same idea has also had my sister. I would note that while we were at the desk in our bedroom, we wrote each of us his manuscript. I especially felt a strong attraction, a certain joy in the record what my imagination suggested to me.
Tell us about your fantasy novel "The Glass Dolls"?
"The Glass Dolls" is precisely, as you say you love me, a fantasy. It 's a book that came to light in 2007, but was born many years earlier. I started to write it until 1996, but then suddenly I dropped the manuscript. I had written before "The Sand Witches - The Legend of Primrose" and the two stories were similar too. One of my characteristics is that of trying to write books different from each other, so as not to repeat myself, but also to experiment with new ways of telling. I took the manuscript of "The Glass Dolls" later. I was writing my first book of short stories, "Bubble, Bubble! Twelve short stories, "and I just put it in this collection as a long story. But because it was too long, so I decided to publish it separately. The story takes a bit away 'from my original idea, but my intent is to use writing as a place of reflection, as well as avoidance, has succeeded fully.
Where did you get the inspiration for the subject of the book?
The inspiration came to me by reading a small booklet, "The Canterville Ghost" by Oscar Wilde, around the eighties. I tried some time ago, among my papers if he had jotted down the idea (it is my habit when I have an idea write it down in the first paper that happens to me!), but I found nothing. Evidently I did well in the minds. But the book is influenced by other great books like "The Doll" by Boleslaw Prus, "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte and "On the Road" by Jack Kerouak.
What is the character who most represents you?
Mah .. Throughout the book represents me a bit. In every character there is a small part of me. We can talk about favorite character. Well ... Latakia is indisputable that Berard, the beautiful model in Reinhold is in love. I like it because I really love fashion, as a child, besides writing, I have this passion for fashion. I would note that the models in magazines tore the clothes that I liked more and gathered them into a folder containing. And why has a way of looking at life disenchanted, since it has the power of the future. Do not create illusions seems to me a mature way to deal with life. Be careful, do not mean that we should not dream or be alone with his feet on the ground. This no. But I mean in having a certain wisdom in knowing how to make a point to situations, that is dreaming, yes, but holding firmly to reality, precisely to prevent the shattering of our illusions when you have no bend at all. It seems to me that all the characters between Latakia is the absolute best to deliver this message. And then I also like that for his intuition of which I have equipped, a prerogative of us women. We women than men have sometimes that intuition that allows us to avoid certain situations or to understand them. Maybe because we can be mothers.
Which writers have most influenced your style?
There is one writer in particular that has influenced my style, but books. And 'is significant that a text tracks in my field and a sign that I want to admiration, vuoi per emulazione, vuoi per imitazione, ho seguito.
We are made of these feelings and move us toward situations. We can shape, it is true, thanks to free will, but we can not prevent certain things happen in our lives. As such, death. We can delay it, but it is an event that is part of our existence. Then, if the ghosts of the past somehow populate our consciousness can well understand how in our present reality is inextricably part of the past. While the future looks uncertain and our expectations may be disappointed, this is the continuum of the past, we must then reconnect to the history of our ancestors to understand our existence. We are fabric, so to speak, already sewn by those who came before us.
What was your path as a writer? Explain how you even managed to publish your book. Do you have any advice for emerging writers?
Initially I tried to write long stories, but then abandoned the manuscripts, and thus the stories there were still incomplete. Then I ventured a little 'with the poems, but with poor results. And so I chose the stories and from there you understand many things. Especially the dynamics of the narrative. You have an idea and write it down somewhere just to take it up. But while the story the narrative texture is developed in a few pages, with novels have to be careful about many things. The contradictions, for example. Obviously disappear if we re-read the text and meditate. I think it is good to do some creative writing class, but unfortunately are not free, help in some way to develop the idea of narrative text. Writing, in fact, is not speaking yet as the story or novel must be approached as possible to something that is told orally. The Greek tradition with the Iliad and the Odyssey has been handed down this idea of narrative. We know that these two great works were written by Homer, but we also know that were passed down orally. What does this mean? That history has come down to us through the storytellers who repeats it in the streets and the courts of kings. It would be good to read and write every day (the idea of keeping a diary and write down their thoughts of what happened is a good resource for the year), this is the advice I can give to those who want to pull over this coveted job.
When did you discover your passion for writing?
As I said before as a child, a theme played fantastically at home and a poem dedicated to my teacher. These writings of which I speak are the first ever, of course, followed by yellow, and other stories from my personal diary.
Tell us about your other literary works.
I wrote "Sand Witches - The Legend of Primrose." It 's a fantasy tale. Unlike previously published works expected to continue, so the story unfolds in multiple volumes. When I created then I thought about dividing it into five volumes, then I had, as it were an afterthought, dictated by my momentary loss (I was struck by the famous writer's block for a few years and are no longer able to continue the story) , but now I can not give a number to the volume of the saga, but for now I have three more planned over the five already designed. Then, everything will depend on the inspiration of the moment. Meanwhile I'm working on the second volume (it's much bigger than the first!) Which will be titled "Sand Witches - In search of memories." I would like to devote myself to writing other stories, but it is really impossible. Even now that I'm correcting the text ideas to add chapters changing history, so ... However, one thing is certain: the subtitles of the other books in the series were all designed already, so ... wait!
you planning any presentation? Tell us about your future projects.
Yes to the witches' sabbath - The legend of Primrose will make presentations, but for now it is premature talk about it yet since the book was not published. But it is one thing I do: it is important and essential to meet the people, not just talk about history, but also for an ideal comparison with my readers.
You have the sites where they can follow? Where can I buy your books?
course. Amando write I have not resisted the temptation to have blogs. Yes .. I speak in the plural because I had two. The first, "A city transparent to itself" (http://digater.blogspot.com/), was a place where I noted from time to time a story scribbled when I was a bit 'of time. I'm talking about the past because I have recently closed. In fact, this story will probably become a book of the same name and, therefore, no longer seemed appropriate to post it from time to time on the blog. But the blog is still available, that will be online to read the first and the second chapter and then I may come in handy if and when the book comes out because you will write down everything about the book precisely. Additionally, this blog you can see some beautiful pictures I took (my other passion!). The second, "Teresa" (http://tdigaetano.spaces.live.com/) is my personal journal, notes, and really a bit 'of everything.
