Francesco Hello and welcome to my blog Italian Emerging Writers. Would you introduce yourself to readers?

Hello everyone and thanks to you Alex for the space that you leave me your blog. Who tell me? Well, I'm 20 years old and Naples. I write since I have 5, and I think that since I did not want nor able to do more. Necrophylia is my first novel. For my part I love everything that comes out of the guts, I love the stories gut. I love the tormented souls. I hate any kind of academic and I am convinced that the word intellectual is the ugliest word in our vocabulary. Like, art, stay in touch with sincere people who are put into play to the end and that does not leave anything of themselves, from the noblest to the most abject. I admire those people who can tell their pain without complaints, without fear of suffering even more in the telling. In everyday life I can find one minute to read Dostoevsky and the next minute to watch an episode of Big Brother. I would say, then, are a pretty varied! ^ ^

Your first novel is Necrophylia you wrote at the young age of 19. What was the inspiration that led you to writing this manuscript?

Usually when I start to write something inspired from a flash I went per la testa. Anche per Necrophylia è stato così. Da quel flash comincio a lavorare per tirare fuori qualcosa di concreto. Mi piace mettere in discussione il sentire comune. Non dare mai niente per scontato. Mi piace provocare e lasciare il lettore sull'abisso di un baratro, togliergli, almeno cercare di farlo, tutte le sue certezze, le sue sicurezze. Mi piace destabilizzare. Miro, quando scrivo, a lasciare al lettore, una volta finito di leggere, una sensazione di malessere alla pit of the stomach, a sense of anxiety which leads to the question.

What is the message you would like to give readers who read your novel?


do not like to transmit messages in the stories I write. What is more I would like to instill doubt, give rise to the question. I am not fond moral literature che ha come unico obiettivo quello di insegnare qualcosa al lettore. Per me lo scrittore non deve insegnare, deve solo raccontare e mettere in gioco completamente il proprio io.

Il romanzo è scritto il prima persona. C'è qualcosa di autobiografico come pensieri, azioni, emozioni che si rispecchiano anche in te?


Logicamente la storia in sè non ha nulla di autobiografico. Però molti dei pensieri del protagonista sono i miei. Non tutti, a dire il vero. In verità c'è una piccola parte di me in ogni personaggio che descrivo. E' così di solito che faccio: cerco di scompormi e lascio un pezzo di me in ognuno dei miei personaggi.


How would you describe your novel using an adjective? Why?


Well, I'd certainly grotesque. If I use the second I would say sadly. Grotesque, certainly for what he describes and the cynicism with which it does. Melancholy because behind the apparent cynicism hides a great sadness and, indeed, a sweet melancholy.

That bond you have with your book? What did it mean for you to write Necrophylia? We're particularly fond of?

Segna per me un momento importante: quello in cui faccio uscire i miei scritti dall'hard disk del pc e provo a mettermi in gioco. Anche per questo significa molto. Poi, come in ogni cosa che scrivo, anche in Necrophylia ho provato a mettere in gioco una parte di me e a "vomitare" le angosce e i sentimenti che mi sento dentro.


Com' è stato il tuo processo di pubblicazione? La tua ricerca di una casa editrice?


Beh, quando ho pubblicato Necrophylia ne sapevo veramente poco del mondo dell'editoria. Ho firmato uno dei primi contratti che mi arrivarono. In ogni caso, ora che ho un pò più di esperienza, non posso non accorgermi di quanto complicato sia questo mondo e di come sia difficile muoversi al suo interno.


Quali sono i tuoi autori e/o libri preferiti? Quelli che ti hanno formato?


Amo molto la letteratura americana. Come riferimenti non posso non citare Palahniuk, Kerouac, Ellis, Roth. Alcuni scritti francesi, soprattutto quelli più esistenzialisti, per esempio Sartre, mi affascinano molto. Tra le nuove scoperte ho da poco letto un paio di romanzi dell'italiano Trevisan e mi ha colpito molto. Poi non posso non citare il mio scrittore preferito, Dostoevskij. Un uomo ed uno scrittore senza pari, la cui personalità mi ha sicuramente influenzato moltissimo.

Quali sono i tuoi progetti futuri? Ci puoi svelare qualcosa?


Ho da poco ultimato il mio secondo romanzo e sono alla ricerca di un editore. Anche questo, come The first is a strong pulp color, very strong and direct as Necrophylia and cynical in the same way. The working title is "Primal."
